How Often Should You Get a Massage?
At Sage Blossom Massage we have created a massage membership to help heal your body and mind.
The best way to maintain your health is by being consistent with self-care, including scheduled massages.
We hear your frequently asked question; how often should you get a massage? This is a great question and one that cannot be answered with just a few words!
Frequency and Types of Massage
How often you should get a massage depends largely on both your physical and mental massage needs, what you can afford, as well as your personal wishes—the type of massage that you want, and the area(s) you want to target.
Relaxation and General Health Massage
If you need relaxation and tension relief (Who doesn’t feel the need for that these days?), or if you desire to boost your general health, a full-body massage fits right into the spectrum of your needs.
A Swedish (or classic) massage, which is a common massage technique, promotes relaxation and releases muscle tension through techniques such as kneading, long strokes, and deep circular movements. A classic massage can include full-body, or you can ask your therapist to spend more time in one area—such as tense shoulders, or a stiff neck.
How often do you need a classic massage? Much depends upon how you feel when you walk away from the massage. How often do you want to experience the healing release of tension?
For people under light to moderate stress, a monthly massage is proven to improve general and mental health through stress relief and relaxation.
A major plus for YOU: when you have a once-a-month massage already on the schedule, you avoid poring over the thought “I feel so good, when should I do it again?”
Life is busy, we tend to forget to take care of ourselves. Sidestep that and relax into KNOWING that you are already rebooked (before you leave our doors)! You can help eliminate stress before it wreaks havoc on your body!
Pain Reduction and Management Massage
Massage for intense or chronic pain, especially pain caused by certain health conditions or injury, typically requires a deep tissue/corrective massage technique to reach the inner layers of your muscles and surrounding connective tissues.
Your massage therapist will help you determine how often a deep tissue massage is needed based on your specific medical condition and/or physical needs. You might start out with a frequency of massages one to two weeks apart, rarely several times during the first week, and then extend out to monthly visits to continue the healing process. This ensures each therapeutic massage builds upon the last, leaving less gap for pain and stress to return.
Prenatal Massage
The miracle of life brings in joy throughout pregnancy, but it can deliver extra aches, pains, circulation problems, swelling, and overall discomfort to our bodies as the baby grows.
A monthly prenatal massage can help decrease body tension, improve circulation, promote relaxation, and help you get better sleep.
The benefits of massage do not stop once you give birth. A monthly massage helps your body heal during postpartum recovery. Massage can also promote the return of your pre-pregnancy body while reducing the mental and physical stress that comes with adjusting to the demands of being a new mother.
Our Massage Therapists Guide and Listen
Our friendly and talented staff of licensed massage therapists custom tailor your massage and guide you with helpful professional direction. This feedback applies to more than your current massage, it also includes recommendations for future massages (both frequency and type).
Importantly, though, we never stop listening to you…you are key in this process. We want to hear the wants and needs that you have for your body and mind in this holistic approach to wellness.
